Tai Chi
The Tai Chi class integrates an ancient form of movement and exercise into the Brite™ Wellness program. The gentle exercise is practiced in a calm environment – the beginning of wellness that comes with a settled mind free from the stress of the day.
Tai Chi is often referred to as “moving yoga” and combines the health benefits of aerobic exercise with the positive effects of meditative activities. Reviews of the scientific literature have found that Tai Chi can improve cognition, including, memory, attention, and language in older adults. Mei-yi Siu and Diane Lee reported in a study from Tung Wah College in Hong Kong that, “Tai Chi may be an effective way to enhance cognitive health and maintain functional abilities in older people with Mild Cognitive Impairment.”
