Brite launches advanced live streaming programs for individual members and facilities for participation from coast-to coast.
(PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania) – This week Brite Wellness launched an advanced live and on-demand streaming program that will make their unique program available to individuals with mild cognitive disorders and to facilities that have senior members and residents anywhere across the country.
Brite Wellness Program was created to take advantage of activities that have been shown to be positive influences on brain health across the lifespan. These include physical activity, artistic and creative thinking, musical activity, and cognitive stimulation. These activities are uniquely combined into a single program that has been linked to positive brain health and wellness.
It is the combination of the activities in a programmatic approach that defines Brite. Brite differs from other wellness programs in that it supports activities based on their beneficial effects on the brain. Brite is a program – members do not participate for a single class, they engage for the entire 3-4 hour session, three days each week.
Brite also emphasizes the social component of the activities, and there is a 10-minute break between classes that allows the members to enjoy conversations. By having a program of activities, Brite encourages members to expand their areas of interest and involvement, which is challenging the brain in new and important ways.
Brite partnered with the Homewood-Brushton YMCA and expanded their renowned Lighthouse Project to include state-of-the-art High-Definition (HD) live broadcast and video production capabilities. Brite engineers selected Canon’s newest PTZ 4K platform as the heart of the broadcast studio. The system can control up to 100 cameras cascading from small to large productions. Brite’s HD studios also provide the YMCA the opportunity for aspiring video producers and directors to learn the art of live and prerecorded production techniques.
“The original Brite model was a place-based facility where our members would come three days a week. Research indicates the prevalence of subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is 1 in 9 adults. We knew if we were going to make a significant impact on the well-being of these individuals that have mild cognitive impairment, we needed to make our programs available across the country. It was two years in the making and Brite is now the only program of its kind in the United States.” stated Dr. James T. Becker, Founder and CEO
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that mild cognitive decline that is not part of the normal aging process can affect a person’s ability to live and function independently and could result in other poor health outcomes.
“People with mild cognitive impairments really have nowhere to go after a diagnosis. People with dementia can receive medications and other support, but those only mildly affected are alone. This is what Brite Wellness does, we help the people who are only mildly impaired, and with our innovative way of delivering the program we can reach people all over the country. “noted Professor Oscar Lopez, Scientific Director of the University of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Brite Wellness.
